Jr. NBA landing in Abu Dhabi and taking OWQLO along
The latest addition to the Jr. NBA — OWQLO family is Abu Dhabi, as recently announced by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). They launched the first Jr. NBA League in Abu Dhabi, a youth basketball league for 450 boys and girls ages 11–14 from local schools.
The league tipped off on the 5th of March and an opening ceremony and draft were held previous to the first day of games, highlighted by NBA Legend Clyde Drexler. “It’s an absolute honor for Abu Dhabi to host the first Jr. NBA League in the UAE, which will inspire boys and girls across our emirate to take part in this highly popular sport,” said HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, DCT Abu Dhabi Chairman who attended the draft and had the opportunity to interact with and encourage the youth players.
The Jr. NBA League is working to teach the fundamental skills and core values of the game — teamwork, respect, determination and community — at the grassroots level, which align well with the values OWQLO promotes. All in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.
We couldn’t be more excited to continue to grow the OWQLO x Jr. NBA partnership across the region, helping to develop youth sports everywhere we go.
